Caregivers Play Many Roles

The majority of people believe that caretakers are only there to assist with daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and reminding patients to take their medications. Yes, caregivers perform these activities as part of their employment, but they also accomplish much more. For instance, at Virginia Home Care Services, we call all of our clients in advance of a snowstorm to ensure that they ask their caregivers to complete other tasks like picking up their medications, buying food at the store, and preparing things in case of a major snowstorm that could render them immobile. That is just one instance of the extra effort Virginia Home Care Services does to support our customers and their families. Additionally, our caregivers assist with the following tasks:

  • Managing side effects from medications
  • Reporting problems with housing, vehicles, and other essentials.
  • Trying to keep other family members and friends informed of what’s happening with individuals care.
  • Helping to decide whether a treatment is working and things that may be improved.
